"Encaustic painting, also known as hot wax painting, involves using heated beeswax to which colored pigments are added. The liquid/paste is then applied to a surface—usually prepared wood, though canvas and other materials are often used.
Encaustic artists and candlemakers love our natural white beeswax, many consider it encaustic wax. Our white beeswax is filtered naturally with no chemicals used & highly refined by the Dilco Refining process, a well trusted method of naturally filtering & bleaching beeswax.
We have added microcrystaline wax, carnauba wax flakes and damar resin crystals to our supplies and hope to be adding pigments in the future. We put a pound of medium in a plastic bag and then put piece of cardboard over it and wack it with rubber mallet from Home Depot to break into pieces. The encaustic medium mixes we offer are Approx 8 to 1, 6 to 1(EMD 15%DAMAR) and 5 to 1(EMDHD20%DAMAR).
